How much RAM would I need to replicate your EN-DE model or does the GPU take on the entire workload for training and decoding?

In other words: What would be your PC specs recommendations? Do I really need 256GB Mem as mentioned on your models site?

for a 5M Training I would say that 16Gb RAM is more than enough (and maybe 8Gb). For the GPU, you need minimum 6Gb (which is standard now in almost all GPU cards) and note that you can reduce the size in GPU by reducing batch size (and model size).

Compared to SMT systems this is cost saving!
